Tasos Kontogiorgos

Tasos Kontogiorgos is a seasoned software developer with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Tasos has received several grants from the University of Essex, the Greek Academy of Sciences, and the Commission of the European Community for his contributions to the field of computer science. Tasos has worked at some of the most prestigious financial institutions, including Goldman Sachs, UBS, and Credit Suisse, where he has designed and developed numerous software components that have become foundational in trading, risk management, and regulatory reporting. He is particularly skilled in Java, Antlr, C++, yacc, lex, and Slang, and has extensive experience working with object-oriented programming languages and distributed systems.

Other career highlights include:

• Co-author of the paper “A C++ template Based Application Architecture” (C++ Report, Nov. 95), based on the architecture of a program trading system at GS. This paper was selected as one of the best papers during the first seven years of C++ Report publication and was published in a book called “C++ Gems” by Cambridge University Press.

• Invited to the C++ World 95 conference and delivered a presentation: “C++ and Real Time Risk Management”, describing the risk management system (DeltaBook) for the proprietary equity derivatives trading desk at Nomura.

• As Managing Director at UBS, he designed and developed RGO, RDI, and UIM, which provided the foundation for the equity derivatives trading system. At Goldman Sachs, Tasos created MDL, a programming language that translates formal business specifications into C++ programs, and GTX, a programming language used to create code generators.

• As Managing Director at Credit Suisse, he designed and developed RDL, RDA, and RDF, which provided the foundation for the firm-wide regulatory risk reporting and aggregation infrastructure.
